The Manchester Chess Federation Summer Congress is scheduled to take place at Allen Hall from Friday the 4th to Sunday the 6th of July 2008. The three sections consist of an Open, Major (Under 150) and Knights (Under 110). The 29th County Durham Open Chess Congress is scheduled to take place from Friday the 25th to Sunday the 27th of April at the Durham Masonic Hall, 36 Old Elvet, Durham City DH1 3HN.

The Open section is open to all, the Major section is restricted to players under 151 and the Minor section is restricted to players under 111.

The Huddersfield Rapidplay 2008 is scheduled to take place on Sunday the 1st of June at the Huddersfield Ukranian Club. Details and entry form can be found here

NRM1

A Family Games Day event is scheduled to be held at the National Railway Museum on Sunday the 13th of April. You will be able to see expert demonstration and master classes as well as take part in beginners’ introductory sessions from York Chess  Club, the English Bridge Union and York Bridge Club.

The 2008 York and District Association Under 18 Championship is taking place in the NRM on this day and there will be specialist workshops and training for paticipants provided by England Team member WFM Sabrina Chevannes. ECF President Gerry Walsh is scheduled to open the event.

Entry to the museum is FREE and entry in the Chess Event is only £4
